American Airlines Citi Platinum Select MasterCard
Card Offers: American Airlines is one of the worlds greatest, biggest airlines with a quick growing fleet and service. To increase their passenger capacity and service, they have rolled out the American Airlines Platinum Select Credit Card. Of course you need a good credit score to apply for this card. With an annual fee of $95, that is waived for the first year, you are sure to go far with this card and with American Airlines.
Earning points: With this card, you have the opening offer of 30,000 bonus points after making $1000 purchase in the first 3 months, but recently American Airlines has rolled out 50,000 points after $3000 in purchases, so keep an eye out for that offer before it is gone. Anyways, you are also sure to earn 2X the point per $ spent on American Airlines and US Airways. That can speed you to advantages and flights much, much quicker. For every $ spent outside of that, you earn 1 point. There are many partners such as Oneworld, British Airways, and Qatar Airways. One really quick way to speed up points is Rocketmiles, where you can earn up to 5,000 points for every NIGHT you stay! I use Rocketmiles very frequently for hotel bookings, and let me just say, I earned 13,000 Rapid Rewards Points for a 3 night stay.
Redeeming Points: Of course you can redeem points for American Airlines, that start at 25,000 points- oh wait- thats for those that are cardmembers. Cardmembers however can recieve a 7,500 mile discount for a roundtrip flight, so making their total be only 17,500! Thats a pretty great offer, however there are selected destinations and dates, but the range is pretty wide. You can also redeem points on US Airways, considering that they are soon to merge their program. Also, you can redeem for cars and hotels, magazines, and much more. One other is that you can partially pay for a vacation package booked through AA website with points, along with a fee, depending on the vacation package fare. These points are though not redeemable for/ valid for any tier level.

Airline Offers: American Airlines seems to have provided their cardholders some great advantages to being members. Starting off with the classic, one free checked bag for you and four travel companions. You receive Group 1 Boarding, so you can save some time instead of sitting at the airport. Also, you can receive a 25% discount on all inflight purchases made such as snacks and alcoholic drinks on US Airways and American Airlines flights. Also, you receive 10% of your redeemed miles back to you, and you can receive a $100 flight / companion discount after making $30,000 of purchases or more in one year. Also, something pretty awesome is that you will also receive 2 Admirals Club passes! Thats some good stuff.
Verdict: American Airlines, being such a large carrier, seems to be providing its passengers with a lot to enjoy, from the 30,000 points to the 25% off inflight purchases. I think that the offers provided by the airline are pretty great, but the $30,000 spending for a $100 discount is just unreasonable, unless you are buying a new house every year. Overall, everything is great, and especially the lounge access, which can come in handy for when you book an economy international sector! All in all, great card, preferred for everyone!
